    PAD and foreigners
Ok, there are some People Against Democracy devotees in here who are stating that all foreigners be kicked out of Thailand so that Thailand can solve their own problems. Let’s take the on a trip down the Yellow Brick Road to Never, Never Land (yeah, I’m mixing stories here, but what the heck) and give them an idea of what it would be like if that were to...

    Double pricing system in Thailand
What do you think about the “double pricing system” in Thailand? What’s about this: Foreigners (farangs) have to pay more than Thais when they go to a national park (like Khao Yai in Korat), or a zoo (like Chiang Mai Zoo & Night Safari). In Khao Yai they want to have from foreigners about 400 baht and about only 80 baht from Thais. Or let go your wife ask

    Farang cannot know Thai-ness
The general Thai view is that some farangs may know a lot about Thai politics, culture, way of life and so on, but they will never be able to reach the core of Thai-ness. In retrospect, the traditional elite have always viewed themselves as being caught in the dilemma of whether to wipe out the threatening farang culture or to welcome its modernity. Worthless...

Why do ONLY foreigners get special promotion?
The advertising board on the way to Airport is shown "Foreigner Zone.. Buying house (somewhere around Bangkok..) Foreigner, with Special Price!!" I know the property company may want to attract foreigners to invest in property in Thailand. But, what about Thais who also want to own the property in their own country but have to pay higher price than...

    Three Most Important Words.
In pasa Thai, almost every tourist learns how to say hello: Sawat dee, kap/kaa. (kap and kaa are gender-related) Thank you is quite simple, although there is a colloquial version: Khop khun, kap/kaa. (formal) Khop jai. (informal) The one important phrase that is oft forgotten is: Khor tut, kap/kaa ... ... which means sorry. Never hear that much from...

Re: Farangs Barred From Buying Thai Land
Foreigners cannot use a Thai spouse as a nominee to buy property in Thailand, however. “If the Thai spouse has enough money to buy the house that is fine, but if the Thai has no money and uses money given to him or her by a foreigner to acquire property, that is against the law. If we check and find out later that a Thai person has been using money from a...

    Buying goldplates in Thailand
I consider to buy gold in Thailand, as a security/investment. Asking for information in Thai gold/jewelry shops I found out that the goldplates ( 1,2,5 and 10 Baht) only contain 96.5 % of pure gold , whereas in Europe and probably in other so-called Western countries, goldbars contain 99,9999 % of pure gold. Can anyone tell me the reason why?
