The PAD's Blockade of Government House and Parliament
Re: The PAD's Blockade of Government House and Parliament
The PAD by gathering and blocking Govern house are considered illegal assembly, disturb and endanger to the lives. In other countries like Malaysia or Singapore, these people will sure be round up by the police and put into Jail. For those notorious peopl who really disturb the peace of the country will be detained until further notice using the ISA (Internal Security Act) like the Malaysia used recently ... why the Thai police are not doing anything?
This is hurting the tourism industry and the economy.

Chamlong knows full well that the police will not wade through the crowd to arrest him. No sane person would dare to do it, let alone the poorly paid policeman. Chamlong himself set up the whole arrangement of being caught while "exercising his right" of voting in order to stoke the fire once more knowing full well the protestor will go all out to set him free, by hook or by crook. Now, once again, this sparks the light in the protestors to challenge the powers that be.
At the end of the day, Chamlong and Sondhi are merely the messengers of higher powers that play this game. it's all between the old rich Thai elites versus the newly rich Thais. This stand off will only end when the miracle of demi-god swooping down from heaven to save the nation from further bloodshed. Then the world will once again be shown how things works in Thailand and this will serve as a warning to the man in London.

You are welcome krub Robin.
Latest reports say 2 people have died as a result of the riots and over 300 injured. If these rebels wanted blood they've got it, and they have brought this upon themselves. I am not a big fan of this government, but at this point I hope they maintain their stance and not bow to pressure to resign or dissolve the house. That is not the solution to anything. The wrongdoers need to be brought to justice and law and order must be restored immediately. My condolences go out to the families of the victims.

Re: The PAD's Blockade of Government House and Parliament
1. Do not underestimate the powerful support behind PAD.
There is a reason why police/army/government are afraid to challenge them.
2. PAD is an organisation promoting the interests of the 'old elite' (monetary and cultural),
which lost privelieges during the Taksin 'regime'. Mainly Bangkok residents.
3. Among those supporting PAD is the majority of mass media journalists and editors. This should be quite obvious from
several editorials in this publication, and also The Nation.
4. Taksin, when he was prime minister, had an absolute majority behind him in the parliament, and did pretty much what he wanted. Some of this was good, a lot was not.
5. This was not acceptable by the old elite, and a coup was staged. The constitution was changed, to ensure that Taksin and 'his cronies' could not win another election, but they did anyway.
6. Since it is impossible to return power to the old elite through parliamentary means, PAD chooses to stand outside the rules of democracy. (PAD stands for Power Against Democracy
7. Vote buying is an old tradition in Thailand, used by basically everyone. This is the first time
8. Another problem with Thai democracy is that there are too many ignorant people, particularly in the NorthEast, that vote for the wrong party. It will be much better once the chosen nominees take care of them, and they can go back to the rice fields together with the other buffaloes...

I hope for this beautiful country that the time will come that there will be a powerful and wise government, wich has full control over the army as well as the police and all the necessary institutes to let the country work like a well oiled machine. To achieve this all parts of this machine has to cooperatively work together for the benfit of all citizens. And everyone should respect the democratic rules, wether you are happy or unhappy with the present government. So PAD GO HOME!!! Go to work and let the parliament en the senat do their job too.

Re: The PAD's Blockade of Government House and Parliament
I think PAD and it's supporters accrossed the border, I am sure they dont know what they are doing.
In civilized countries this kind of problems are solved by a democratic way not by taking over the parliament house, government house. I have seen on the TV PAD supporters are fighting with some instruments, throwing the stones, using the sticks, kniwes, liquid explositions, it seems they are prepared and trained well. On BKK post I learned some of them have even small bombs. As far as I have seen on media also, the protestor fighters seem to be a gang members. I am curious who is financing these protest and activities..? What benefits will come from this conflict..? Instead of fighting with economic problems, eblablishing and keeping stabilization in the country people are fighting with the government. Sorry, this is not a democracy. PAD leader Sonthi also said that represantative democracy is not suitable for Thailand. Only the person who lost himself and cannot control his mind can disclose such opinions. All of the world is watching you...You are destroying your own country at this time when high tourism season about to begin.
I am very hopeful H.E. ////// will make a comment and the conflict will end.
Best regards
