Designing paradise

Resort design can be challenging. And it can be even more challenging if the theme is the sea. A common task for most designers who lay out a luxury resort is to make the most of the wonderful natural surroundings of its location while incorporating man-made elements in a way that respects the local culture, as well as the beauty of the setting. To achieve the goal, the designers need to come up with a perfect blend between landscape, architecture and interior space in order to make the place the most comfortable and welcoming possible. More importantly, they need to have very clear concepts that combine colour schemes and contrasts through material usage, surface accents and textures in order to create a relaxing and pleasant atmosphere for all guests. And Seaside Resorts can be a guide for designers in the art of creating luxury beachfront resorts.

Complied by Design Media Publishing, the book comes features 37 seaside resorts located in Asia, Africa, Europe, America, and Oceania. Some examples include Velassaru Maldives, Heritage Awali Golf & Spa Resort, Fairmont Southampton, The Resort at Pelican Hill and InterContinental Tahiti Resort & Spa. Basic information about each resort is also included.
