While motorists may snarl and spit at the long lines of traffic trying to get around the Thai-Belgian Friendship bridge, now partially closed for repairs, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration deputy clerk Jumpol Sumpaopol takes a measure of pride in what the structure represents.
Motorists on Rama IV Road are counting down to the reopening of the Thai-Belgian Friendship overpass, which has been closed for maintenance since March 5.
Mr Jumpol sees in the bridge a spirit of cooperation that made its reassembling overnight 25 years ago such a memorable event.
