For Michelle Tabuada, being an expat nurse comes with its challenges, which she is more than happy to undertake for the adventure. The Filipina from Bacolod City, Philippines, has worked at the Bumrungrad International Hospital for three years.

The medical coordination nurse had this to say about having a career in a foreign land: "I must admit that it is frustrating to come to a different country and not be able to speak the [Thai] language. It was probably the first and most tangible challenge I encountered. Although I'm working with English-speaking patients, I find it difficult to express my needs or respond to requests from other people who cannot speak English, especially over the phone.
