Jail calls in riot police after protest

About 400 riot police have been mobilised at Samut Sakhon prison following a riot by a group of inmates yesterday.

The protest involved about 50 inmates and erupted about 6am yesterday.

It ended peacefully about 30 minutes later after negotiations were held between inmates and prison authorities, Samut Sakhon prison commander Sophon Yimpreecha said.
