INTHEMIRROR Are your hands revealing your age?
23/02/2012 : Doesn't Madonna still look as stunning as ever? She could still outshine a 30-year-old actress when it comes to her charming face and sensual body. But zoom in on to her hands, and unfortunately it's a dead giveaway of the star's age.

What alcohol cando to, And for, You
21/02/2012 : Heavy drinking does not have any health benefits. Apart from a wide range of negative health consequences, including an increased risk for many chronic diseases (diabetes, cirrhosis of the liver, high blood pressure and strokes), many types of cancer (mouth, larynx, and oesophageal cancers, breast cancer and cancers of the liver, gastrointestinal tract and colon), it can also lead to outbursts of violence, physical injuries, etc. Avoiding alcohol can only partially reverse these effects.

WELLNESS
The healthy boost from balanced hormones
21/02/2012 : On most days, you probably don't think about how important hormones are to overall health and wellness. But when you're feeling stressed, fatigued or irritable, or your libido seems to have gone missing, there's a very good chance your hormone levels are out of balance.

Hope for liver cancer patients
21/02/2012 : Once diagnosed with cancer, what a patient needs is morale support from friends and family to cope with their overwhelming grief, fear and confusion.

MUMMYSAYS
Outsmarting the 'smart' label
21/02/2012 : I had a chance to attend a seminar organised by Abbott Thailand recently under the topic "Nutrition for your children's sustainable brain development". The most interesting thing I got from it was not the useful information on nutrition, but a very interesting sentence delivered by one of the speakers, Dr Nalinee Cherwanidchakorn, a developmental and behavioural paediatrician. It was a question I wish someone had bothered to ask me when I was little.

How cheeky are you?
16/02/2012 : Just as shapely cheekbones make for an attractive face, so sunken, sagging cheeks are a telltale sign of old age.

Cluster solution
14/02/2012 : Every year medication errors account for around 10% of overall mistakes that are blamed for some 100,000 deaths in the US, and though no such statistic is available for Thailand, this unnecessary loss of life has been a niggling source of concern.

HEALTH4ALL
Caring for the elderly
14/02/2012 : More than half of my heart patients are above the age of 65. This doesn't come as a surprise since heart diseases usually come with advancing years; the older you are, the higher the risk. But in the not-too-distant future I expect that most of my patients will be 75, or older, because people are now living longer and this increased longevity means that our society contains a greater proportion of elderly citizens.

Couples who love for the long run
14/02/2012 : The approach of St Valentine's Day is a good time to reflect on love and long-term relationship. On this topic, the first question that comes to mind is: What is the meaning of love?

SMARTCHOICE
Go easy on those sugary treats
13/02/2012 : Many of us adore spoiling our loved ones with sweet things on St Valentine's Day, but it can often be hard to decide which type of confectionary _ chocolate, cakes, candy, fancy biscuits, ice cream, etc _ is best to indulge in and when to call a halt.
