NSC reveals talk with BRN

National Security Council (NSC) secretary-general Paradorn Pattanathabutr on Wednesday revealed details of his latest meeting with Barisan Revolusi Nasional (BRN) liaison office chief Hassan Taib, in which both sides have agreed to endorse a peace dialogue process, after their historic pact signed last week.

Lt Gen Paradorn said he flew to Malaysia on Tuesday to meet Mr Hassan. They agreed to sign an accord endorsing Malaysia-brokered peace talks on the far South, beginning on March 28.

At Tuesday's talk, Lt Gen Paradorn and Mr Hassan agreed to appoint Dato Sri Ahmad Zamzamin bin Hashim, former director of Malaysia's national intelligence agency, as a facilitator in the future dialogue between the government and the BRN.

D.13 englishbob The treaty had just started, don't you think we should give it a chance? The south problems is totally different from the Ireland. We do not invaded their land, but we are all Thai under one most honored king in the history of the world. The only different is the believe. IMHO, I believe the best solution will be through negotiation table.

We should follow the lead shown by Malaysian Govt. in dealing with the Islamic Filipino invaders. It is either Peace or War, not both. The Filipino invaders are begging for a ceasefire already after being on the receiving end of massive firepower of Malaysian Military, including airstrikes.

Well let me help you... The Southern Insurgency has worsened since Yingluck took over. Attacks are more frequent, better organised and more deadly. So the South WAS better under AV.

And if actions speak louder than words, Yingluck has done nothing... Signed a treaty (words), while the violence continues.

So... more violence and deaths under Yingluck. Still banging the Red Drum?

Bangon dis#11, if you allow this urgent long overdue problem to be discussed in Parliment and knowing the antics of the opposition to play to the political gallery, you just condemning the problem to a never ending possibility of a solution. Opportunity do not arrive at time of your choosing or for you to debate. If it comes like the BRN peace initiative, you made your best judgement call and decision. This is how the government see it and reacted quickly to seize the opportunity. If the DP see otherwise, it's their prerogative and doesn't mean they are right.

Thank you facts_only, and right he is IMO! Why would AV, or anyone with a sound mind, want to step into a process that was flawed from the start? To cover PTP's bottom in taking part of the blame when it fails? Hasn't this initiative been brokered by TS (with what authority?), whose credibility in the deep South is nihil? Does BRN's old men's army have any credibility left there (compromising itself with the same TS in the past)? Shouldn't such an issue have been previously discussed in Parliament?

The negotiation failed to include member of Malaysian opposition party, especially the ruling party who controls states of Kelantan & Terengganu. These states offer save haven to the insurgents. Again, royal Thai army has to improve intelligence and stop the leakage of information to the insurgents.

D.7 No, I`m posting for the red but you have accept the facts that what ever Yingluck
say or do. AV and his party will alway against it. If their are so good at it, what have they achieved during their 2 1/2 as the government? Is south any better during AV's. It is easy to say or blame but for me, "actions speak louder than words".
