Re: ''No jacket racket makes climate sense'' (BP, Feb 22).

I want to join Andrew's ''burn the duvet'' campaign. It is beyond the pale that a tropical country promotes heavy duvets for homes and hotels. Hotels provide airconditioning and heavy duvets, and yet throughout the year there are many times when a fan would suffice - an open window with netting would help too. The potential financial savings to the hotel, and to the private home, are astronomical, not to mention being in the national interest for reducing energy use and managing climate change.

Rontorr . . Disc #6 A Duvet is a posh name for a soft over-blanket . . my Mum used to call it an "eiderdown" - probably because it was stuffed with feathers! You obviously live in a warm area - or have a cuddly bedmate! Good luck!

Have you ever tried some of the best microbrews in the world? Try Austin, Portland, Seattle or numerous other cities with great microbreweries. There are swills in very country including those that you named.
